Hey all,

Here's the new twiggi2 topic.
Questions, suggestions, comments and opinions about twiggi2 can be posted here.

Twiggi2:
* full CSS support
* all settings thru admin tab
* webbased install/upgrade wizard
* html support
* module based
* and a lot of other (new/improved) stuff

There will be howto's on how to make your own css file with you're own color set (i.e. company logo and colors).
There will be howto's on how to make your own modules so you can extend twiggi with your own modules when the base module are not enough.

And last but not least proper documentation.

Wouter

I don't have a specific date planned for the release.
An extra problem is that from october 3rd I won't have internet access at home for a couple of weeks. I will work on twiggi during those weeks though :)

The plan I think is best is to release alpha, beta en rc versions before the stable release.
That way people can start using it (in non-production enviroments) and give feedback.
Currently I'm working on it alone since the other members don't have the time at the moment.

The structure is more that we have an frame work module (which covers the basic functions like login, db, sessions, etc). The framework can install seperate modules at any time.
Each future inside twiggi will be a module (like contacts, schedule, mail, bookmarks, messenger).
These modules can be downloaded/installed seperately.
Some modules will have dependencies (i.e. mail module needs the contact module for the contactlist) although I'll try to keep the dependencies at a minimum.

Currently I'm working on the bookmark module. Not that that module has priority or anything but that module uses the very basics the framework needs to have (overview, adding items, editing items, deleting items, ACL, etc, etc).

This way with some clear howto's and documentation it will be fairly easy to make your own module and keep on using it without having the trouble of updateing twiggi itself. (and therefore change (a lot of) code to get your own module working again).

So before anything is released it would be handy for the framework to have the basic needed functions (partly) working and to have a couple of (not yet completely finished) modules.

Again a specific date is not planned but I hope to release the first alpha at the end of october or somewhere november. By then my internet acces at home should be restored aswell.
Although I won't have internet access at home I will still be able to respond on the forum (at my parents house for example).

Regards Wouter

The framework module plus some modules (including mail, todo and bookmarks maybe more) will be released alpha in the end of october or somewhere beginning of november.
This depends for a big part on when my internet is back online.
The computer I write twiggi on won't have internet for some time and I don't have an exact date when my computer is back online.

Hi,

I am willing to test it, if not too dangerous in a working environment. Or perhaps install it on the side and have a go and help out testing. It could be our way to contribute to this excellent app we love (and use as basis for ALL our work) in our office.

Best,

PCarneiro

Hey Pedro,

That version would be far from complete and stable so I don't think it's a wise idea to place it in your working environment.
Installing it on the side shouldn't be a big problem as long as it does not use the same database.
The Alpha release might do unexpected things and even data corruption could occur.
If you want to test it (and that's the main goal of the release) installing it on the side with it's own database should be the best solution.
That way you can keep using your current twiggi without having the risk of losing all your important data in twiggi.

Regards,
Wouter

Hey All,

Unfortunately my ADSL order has some problems.
So, I will be without internet a bit longer than expected Sad
This also means that the twiggi2 alpha release is going to take a bit longer since it is on the computer that hasn't got internet.

Regards,
Wouter

Hey all,

There was something wrong with this General Discussion area.
For some reason it was read-only :wacko:
I'm still without ADSL because two big company's don't seem to be able to communicate with each other. On the 3rd of december I'll be without internet for 2 months. :(

You know what they say: If it works, don't touch it.

I orded an extra phoneline and try to get my ADSL on there.
When that's working I just cancel my current phone line.

Best regards,
Wouter
